THE PATHOLOGICAL CHANGES OF THE PULMONARY AND BRONCHIAL ARTERIES THE TUBERCULOUS LUNGS

Abstract
The pathological change of the pulmonary and bronchial arteries in the tuiberculous
foci was studied with the resected 60 pulmonary specimens.
The results arc as follows:
a) Most of arteries in the exudative foci and granulation had the obliterative
endarteritis and these, obliterations are seems to be caused by the cell infiltrations from
the preiarterial tissue.
b) Arteries in the productive and fibrous foci showed the thickening or the
proliferation of elastic fibers in the media, and the recanalization of the obliterated lumen
was found in some artery.
c) pathological change of the endarteritis may be related to the loss of pulmonary
function which comes from the tuberculous change in the lung though the pathological
density on the chest X-ray showed improvement.
d) Chemotherapy is not effective in these case for the improvement of the endarteritis.
The pathologic change of artery may be one of the reason that the chemotherapy is not
effective for the fibrotic foci which involve the pathological change of the artery.
c) The pathologic change of the bronchial artery is variable according to the
pathological condition of the corresponding peribronchial tissue
